Growing up at home there was a huge group of about 30 or 40 of us that used to meet in the dark on our bikes every morning, surf for 2 hrs before school...Last one in would have flat tyres. All hang out at school, and then all surf again after school.

We all had our ''favourite riders'' and it was a bit of a competition to see who's rider would get the most shots in the latest mags and who could make the biggest wall at home. (rawlins wall,hardy wall etc.)

Me and a few others took it to the next level of being Rawlins groupies. We used to get the same colour boards, only wear churchills, cross our legs the same way, deliberately get sunburnt to get a singlet tan like rawlins in the mentawais, Dubb a tape of ONLY rawlins sections,wear rashies over wetsuits for no reason but to look like a photo of his, i had 3 walls filled and half of my roof filled with rawlins cut outs (still there), on the way to school i'd stop at my mates and we would watch the Rawlins section on lost cause 3 times then try make it to school on time.

It's funny to look back now and have a laugh about it. Everyone has hero's, i think we were just a bit obsessed.

BIT OF BAD LUCK

2 weeks ago i ventured south to the Box Beach Pro. The whole set up was epic with the all the organising and sponsors etc. Unfortunately the waves were minimal and it was pushing 1 and a half foot. I got knocked in the semi and ended up equal 6th. Jones Russell stole the win from novy in the final to take the winners cheque.

A few days later i ventured to S.A with Novy,Rigby and the Miatke brothers to film. The second day i ran into a bit of bad luck and popped my shoulder out. I was flopping around in the channel and got it back in, this is the 3rd time its happened now. The next few days it was swolen and really painful, i was forced to sit on the rocks and watch Riggers and Novy nuts in pumping waves. Im home now and am working on getting the shoulder strong to try prevent it from happening again.

UPS AND DOWNS

The past 18 days have been pretty much torture. I was running a little low on funds so i ventured up north to do some labouring with some bricklayers from home.

I knew that it was going to be a bit over 2 weeks straight with no days off and out in the middle of nowhere at a mining town in qld.
Waking up in the pitch black going to work mixing mud and carrying bricks around all day untill the sun went down. The best part of my day was hearing the word SMOKO.

It wasn't all bad times. Even though my hands look like they have been in a cheese grater and i cant bend my back anymore there was definetly some funny times. The boys i were working with were legends and i met some funny characters around the place. Got to experince the nightclub in the town that is open once every 2 weeks, had a few sly wins on the pokies and had a wild day at the local Moranbah yearly Race day.

It was the longest time ive spent not seeing the ocean thats not from an injury. Sometimes i think we all need a little break from our passion to realise how much we really do love it. It was quite a wake up call that i really want to make the most of bodyboarding and never have to be a tradie!

NEW RIPTIDE AND MOVEMENT!!!!!!!

Both Riptide and Movement are out! The new movement has hit the shelves this week and Riptide next week.

I got a double page BANG in the movement im frothing on... my first BANG!
There is so many amazing shots in the mag, it has a feature on Cramsie from the sunicoast, Rigby in Hawaii, the whole hawaii season and a shit load of other good shots.

Im still yet to see the Riptide but i have found the cover online. The cover is from a trip i did to S.A with Finlay, Novy, Jem Creswell (photog) and Will Hodget (mega movie). Jase came away with another win with the cover. Well done you bastard! Our trip is featured inside and it comes with Rawlins new movie.

YOURIDING.COM... he beat me!

Throughout my boredem today on youtube i found this clip.
It's of a guy smashing my character on youriding.com. Suprised me alot to see someone went to the effort to put this on the net to prove they beat me, hah Good to see!

Looks like Dan has done another insane job on my boards. Cant wait for them to be in my hands! These are the new colours i have gone for this year.

PRIDE ROAD TRIP ON RIPTIDE

After the Nationals at the Gold Coast last year, grom Lewy Finnegan stayed over for a PRIDE team road trip down the coast with photog Alex Ormerod. Along the way we surfed with othe team riders Jimmy Williamson and Sam Bennett. The trip was filled with highs and lows as always.
The begining was shocking waves so i decided to just surf nude for some laughs. In the long run we scored some sweet waves and indulged in a few beverages on the way home that kept it entertaining. The trip is featured on the Riptide website.

WEEKEND BOREDEM

A few weeks ago the waves were very average around home, So we decided to do something different and film some single fin surfing. The sunshine coast is pretty much perfect for it because its usually pretty small waves.
This is filmed at a secret location by the name of Ann St.
Kieran is the other guy in the clip, He is an amazingly under rated booger from the Sunshine Coast and is someone we looked up to heaps growing up. Filmed/edited by Ryan Jones (stormboy).

THIS GUY!!!!

This guy! i first met him when i was on the Movement grom trip down the South Coast a few years ago. He was the filmer for the trip and one day decided to come for a shrelp out blackrock and i remember thinking why the fuck is he filming us? we should be filming him. He is an all round legend and doesn't recieve as much exposure as what i think he deserves. This is a new clip he's put together with HB. Surf's with a kind of oldschool look but yet blows waves to bits! We are working on a PRIDE clip from some trips i went on with him last year at the moment and should be done soon aswell.
